Saving Lilly

In this book a boy and a girl were doing a report on circus' for a gifted class they are in together. They found out very surprising news, that in order to train the animals in the circus, the trainers abuse them to do what they need to do. In their regular class, they had to read a certain amount of minutes for the whole class, and once they reached their goal they would get a surprise field trip.

The field trip turned out to be going to the circus. Now before they learned what the surprise field trip was, the children promised that they would never go to a circus because they would be paying to see the animals do tricks that they got hurt to do.

They told the teacher what they found online, but the teacher did not believe them and they had to go to the field trip. So the students started a petition and they got in big trouble and had to go to the principals office. They were told not to do that any more and stop telling kids things that were not true.

Do they go to the field trip? Do they listen to what the principal says? Do the adults find the truth? Read Saving Lilly by Peg Kehret to find out.

I give this book 8 Bananas.
